An Important Break

After a longer break, I am finally back again. For a long time, I did not have the energy to write anything or stay in touch. The year 2025 was anything but easy for me. So much happened, not only in sports, but also personally and mentally. From the outside, I was still able to handle many things and keep functioning, but internally the pressure kept growing over time.

The last months of the year were marked by a lot of pressure, high expectations, and intense training. I tried to balance everything and just keep going. Especially in December and January, I increasingly noticed that both my body and mind were reaching their limits. I was often mentally exhausted, constantly tired, and barely able to recover properly. Even so, we still wanted to finish the training block with the indoor season, and I kept trying to give everything I had.

Over time, however, it became clear that it was not just tiredness anymore. I could feel more and more that I was mentally overwhelmed. Things that would normally bring me joy suddenly felt difficult. My energy kept fading, and I realized that I could not continue like this. After a disappointing indoor season, I had to make the decision to take a break.

This step was not easy for me. As an athlete, you always want to keep going, keep fighting, and keep functioning. But looking back, this break was incredibly important. The first few weeks were not about performance or results, but about finding peace again and simply taking a breath. I had to learn to listen to my body and mind again.

After three to four weeks, I slowly started training again. Without pressure, without expectations, simply step by step. The most important thing for me was to rediscover the joy of sport and slowly return to a normal daily routine. Over time, I noticed that my motivation was coming back and that I was enjoying training again.

Today, I am training hard again and looking positively toward the future. I know that not every phase in sport is easy and that setbacks are part of the journey. At the same time, I learned a lot about myself during this period. Sometimes you need a break in order to come back stronger, not only physically but mentally as well.

I am looking forward to continuing my journey healthy, motivated, and with new energy.

Indoor competitions start

After a very good training camp in South Africa, I set off today for Metz. There, I will run my first indoor 3000 meter race of the season tomorrow. I am very excited about the competition, as the training in the last few weeks has gone very well.

In the coming week, there is already another competition scheduled. On February 12th, I will run 1500 meters in Ostrava. Immediately afterwards, we continue to the next training camp in Santa Pola, where I will train intensively for a week.

This phase will conclude with the Swiss Championships, which will take place on 28 February and 1 March in St. Gallen.

Cross European Championships this weekend and transfer to LK Zug

Looking forward to the European Cross Country Championships

On Sunday, I will be competing in the mixed relay at the European Cross Country Championships. I am really looking forward to it.

I will be flying to Faro on Friday, inspecting the course on Saturday and then competing on Sunday. There will certainly be a live stream, which I will embed directly on the website as soon as it is available.

Switch to LK Zug

I am also very pleased to announce that I am now a member of LK Zug.

At the same time, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the past period, especially to everyone who has accompanied and supported me. The shared experiences and support have meant a lot to me.

I am looking forward to the experiences ahead and to a successful time with LK Zug.

Review of the SM and 2025 season

A lot has happened this year - and it hasn't always been easy. The change in training takes time and our focus was very much on my weaknesses and development. Nevertheless, I can look back on many great moments, such as the gold at the Swiss Cross-Country Championships or the silver in the 1500 m indoor.

That's why it makes the last two weeks even better what has happened.

Swiss Championship 1500 m

On Saturday, it was initially about getting into the final easily. I ran a lot on the outside, but was able to keep out of everything and qualify for the final without any problems.

On Sunday it was all to play for. The race was extremely slow and nobody wanted to lead. I knew that I was very fast at the end and therefore didn't want to lead. As it was slow, the race was very bumpy.

Around 600 m before the end, I tried to position myself a little, but got bumped and had to wait briefly to make sure everything fit. During this time, I was already locked in and just couldn't get out. I noticed that the race was starting at the front, but I couldn't get to the front and didn't want to fight my way through recklessly.

When I finally made it, I was already behind. That's why I had to step on the gas now: I ran to the front, took the lead and gave it my all on the very fast last lap. With this final spurt, I was able to bring home the victory - my first active SM title on the track. I was extremely happy!

Relay SC 3×1000 m

A week later, the season came to an end - with a little treat.

The Thursday before, my knee suddenly swelled up, which was obviously a problem. I hoped that it would be fine by Sunday. I was able to run again on Saturday, but I couldn't do any incline runs. On Sunday I ran in extra early to see if it would hold. The odds were still 50:50. I could run uphill, but the knee was still locked. We then decided to start anyway.

Adrian took over the first 1000 m. We knew that we could run a fast race and he set the pace accordingly. He handed over to me with a small lead. I took off quickly to run a fast thousand meters. My knee was minimally locked, but it held up well. I was able to keep the lead and hand over to Robin with a small advantage.

Robin was hot on the heels of Ivan from LCZ and overtook him at the end in an extremely fast 1000 m time. Together we even broke the Swiss record for 3×1000 m!

It was a wonderful end to the season and a perfect reward for a difficult year.

So I think I've more than earned my break from the season.
